Psychological Testing & Assessment Services

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” – Aristotle

Psychological assessment — also known as psychological testing — is done to help a psychologist better understand an individual and provide valuable insights into the individual’s behavior, skills, thoughts and personality. Psychological assessment is a specialty area within the field of psychology.

When To Come In For Psychological Testing

Perhaps you were recently referred for psychological testing and the uncertainty of what to expect is quite intimidating. We want you to know that here at Abaris we’ve made the process one that promotes clarity on what to expect and alleviates any anxious feelings you may have. Our process was designed to help you and your therapist obtain greater insight into behaviors and tendencies ultimately providing the best treatment outcome possible. Testing can be administered for children through older adults.

Testing Services Include:

Through a series of mainly paper and pencil tests, assessments and questionnaires (with no right or wrong answers), we use these specific tools to measure and observe a client’s behavior in order to arrive at a diagnosis and create and guide a custom treatment plan. Similar to if your medical doctor requested an x-ray to view what was going on, psychologists and psychiatrists look to this type of testing to gain a picture of a person’s strengths and limitations.

Our Therapy Process

Begin by scheduling your initial appointment. We will pair you with a therapist that we believe will be the best fit for you and your current struggles.

During your initial evaluation we will have the opportunity to build rapport with and you can share your backgrounds and the reasons you are seeking counseling. In addition, we will be able to answer your questions regarding services, and what to expect with each session. With your best interests in mind, you will decide together what kind of treatment will benefit you the most.

At the end of your first session if you decide to move forward we will work on a schedule that works for everyone. Then moving forward,  each session will involve set goals as you begin taking the right steps for the best overall therapy experience.

Call one of our 3 locations nearest you, either in Novi, Rochester Hills or Shelby Township and speak to our office staff to learn more about all available appointments.
